WENRA

Cooperation with the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA) contributes to harmonization of the Russian legal and regulatory framework in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. Uptoday, the following results of a longstanding cooperation can be noted: SEC NRS developed the reports for the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia, which represent the detailed description and analysis of the methodology for harmonization of the requirements to safety of nuclear power reactors of WENRA member states; stated the results of the pilot research performed by the WENRA Reactor Harmonization Working Group; suggested the methodology for harmonization of safety requirements to the Russian NPPs developed on the basis of WENRA methodology; made suggestions with regard to further implementation of activities in the field of harmonization of safety requirements to the Russian NPPs.

In 2014 SEC NRS took part in the meetings of WENRA Working Groups, in particular:

  • Reactor Harmonisation Working Group (RHWG),
  • Working Group on Waste and Decommissioning (harmonization of approaches to regulation of safety of the existing nuclear power reactors) (WGWD).
