IAEA hosted the 12th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN)

In the period of April 16-17, 2018, the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna (Austria) hosted the Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN). Representatives from 17 countries took part in the Meeting, including the representative from Russia, Mr. A.V. Balalaechnikov, Head of SEC NRS Information Service. The participants of the Meeting debriefed the report of the GNSSN Secretariat on the progress of implementation of recommendations elaborated as a result of work of the 11-th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network, discussed the priorities and tasks regarding the IAEA Programme for Nuclear Plant Safety, considered the results of the Agency’s activity aimed to support the international legal documents (“Convention on Nuclear Safety” and “Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management”). Moreover, the Agency representatives presented the reports in the following fields:
The Steering Committee of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network provided recommendations for each of the above-mentioned fields. The Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN) (hereinafter is referred to as the Network) is one of the elements of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Framework (GNSSF), the main goal of which is the development of the common information space, searching for new interaction channels in order to upgrade the efficiency of accumulation and dissemination of knowledge and experience in the field of nuclear facilities’ safety. Rostechnadzor is a member of the Steering Committee in charge of the Network development, and it also supports and develops one of the Network segments, that is the National Nuclear Regulatory Portal (NNRP). |
