SEC NRS hosted the IAEA Workshop 16.02.2016

This workshop was organized due to the efforts of scientific and technical support organization for Rostechnadzor following the proposal of the IAEA Secretariat under the frames of Technical Cooperation Project RER/9/129 “Strengthening Nuclear Safety Assessment Capabilities through the Use of the Safety Assessment, Education and Training Programme”.

The representatives from regulatory authorities, scientific and technical centers and institutions, engineering and consulting companies from Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Czech Republic participated in this workshop.

In addition to the representatives of Scientific and Engineering Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, this event was attended by experts from Joint Stock Company ОКB «GIDROPRESS» (Podolsk city); Rosatom Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training (Rosatom-CICE&T, Obninsk city); JSC «Аtomproekt» (Saint-Petersburg); Joint Stock Company «NIKIET» (Moscow); Open Joint-Stock Company «Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company «Atomenergoproekt» (JSC «NIAEP»); Joint Stock Company «Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau for Mechanical Engineering» (JSC «Afrikantov OKBM», Nizhny Novgorod city), Joint Stock Company «Atomenergoproekt», (Moscow branch); Leningrad NPP and Kola NPP.

This workshop provided a forum for the exchange of information concerning the current condition and best practices in development and application of the probabilistic safety analysis prepared for nuclear facilities in the Russian Federation and countries of Europe as well as to discuss the central concepts of risk research and to address the existing challenges with taking into account the “Fukushima-Daiichi” NPP accident.

In the course of this workshop participants made presentations on different aspects of development and application of the probabilistic safety analysis. Pressing issues of PSA which are influencing the reliability of probabilistic evaluations in respect to nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear plants were considered during discussions.

The list of urgent issues of PSA which necessitates further research with the purpose to enhance the reliability of probabilistic safety analysis followed these presentations and discussions.
