Nevsky International Ecological Congress 2015

The organizers of the VII-th Nevsky International Ecological Congress were the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The basic threads that ran through all discussions were the implementation tools of environmental safety strategies.

The SEC NRS topic related booth was functioning within the whole period of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress duration.

The specialists of the Centre presented as follows:

• information about SEC NRS, considered as a technical and scientific support organization (TSO) for Rostechnadzor;
• concept for enhancement of the safety regulation framework and standardization in the field of the use of c nuclear energy;
• “Nuclear and Radiation Safety” periodical;
• “RIS-M” information system.

The Nevsky International Ecological Congress is an annual meeting dating back to 2008 in Saint Petersburg and it is considered to be a unique platform for:

• enhancement of interparliamentary co-operation in the sphere related to ecological safety provision and harmonization of the environmental legislation of the CIS Member-Nations and of the Council of Europe members;
• maximizing dialogues and sharing of experience between the State government authorities representatives, leaders of the business community, universities and research organizations and non-governmental organizations on aspects concerned with the improvement of ecological cost-effectiveness of the CIS-Members economies;
• strengthening of legislation in the sphere of natural resources management and environmental protection by means of application of legal and regulatory mechanisms to introduce the resource saving and energy-efficient low-waste technologies, deep processing of raw materials and waste;
• increasing the role of environmental upbringing and education of population, development of the healthy living habits;
• formulating proposals on the international agenda concerned with the policy in the sphere of ecological safety through interaction with the special-purpose institutes of the United Nations system.
