Safety Guide RB-139-17 has been put into effect

Today the Safety Guide RB-139-17 “Scope and Content of a Safety Analysis Report for Liquid Radioactive Waste Deep Disposal Facilities” was put into effect.

The Safety Guide contains recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia on the development of a Safety Analysis Report for liquid radioactive waste deep disposal facilities submitted to the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia within a package of documents, substantiating safety of LRW deep disposal Facilities in order to obtain a license for construction (reconstruction) and operation.

The Safety Guide is intended to be applied by

• operating organizations, which perform the activities of design, construction (reconstruction) and operation of LRW deep disposal facilities, including the National Operator for radioactive waste management;
• organizations, which perform works and (or) render services to the organizations in charge of design, construction (reconstruction) and operation of LRW deep disposal facilities;
• specialists of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia, who perform licensing of activities on design, construction (reconstruction) and operation of LWR deep disposal facilities and supervision over the mentioned activities;
• specialists of scientific and technical support organizations for the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia, who carry out safety review of LRW deep disposal facilities and activities on design, construction (reconstruction) and operation of LWR deep disposal facilities and supervision over the mentioned types of activities.
