SEC NRS attended the regular session of the IAEA General Conference![]() During the week SEC NRS representatives participated at the events dedicated to the International Nuclear Safety Group (INSAG) activity on safety and security interface, the results of EC project for structured and faster responses to nuclear emergencies (FASTNET), plenary meetings of GNSSN and Regulatory Cooperation Forum and senior safety and security regulator’s meeting. Alexander Khamaza, SEC NRS Director and ETSON Vice-President attended the meetings of ETOSN Board members with Juan Carlos Lentijo, IAEA Deputy Director General - Head of Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, and Gustavo Caruso, Director of the Office of Safety and Security Coordination, and with Massimo Garribba, Acting DDG, Director of Nuclear Energy, Safety and ITER at the European Commission. The ETSON-IAEA meeting participants discussed the issues of mutual interest related to implementation of IAEA-ETSON Practical Arrangements including strong support of the IAEA TSO Initiatives including a new focus in research as well as organization of the next TSO International Conference (proposed by Russia and supported by ETSON to be held in the Russian Federation in 2022). The agenda of the ETSON – European Commission meeting covered the issues related to the fulfillment of the EC project on Nuclear Safety Directive implementation and further actions related to nuclear safety enhancement in Europe on the basis of technical and scientific support, as well as ETSON – JRC collaboration based on signed Cooperation Agreement. The ETSON Board members invited Mr Garribba and his team to attend and contribute the EUROSAFE Forum (Cologne, November 4-5, 2019). On the sidelines of the IAEA General Conference SEC NRS representatives attended the meetings of Alexey Ferapontov, Rostechnador Deputy Head, with the management of the regulatory authorities of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Hungary and Turkey. |
