RB-159-19 has been put into effect

On November 11, 2019, the Safety Guide RB-159-19 “Recommendations on the Conduct of an Integrated Engineering and Radiation Survey for a Nuclear Facility” has been put into effect.

The Safety Guide covers nuclear facilities subject to decommissioning in line with the requirements of NP-091-14 “Safety in Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities. General Provisions”, except for nuclear research reactors, NPP units, ships and other floating vessels with nuclear reactors, and nuclear maintenance ships.

RB-159-19 provides recommendations on the ways of preparation and conduct of an integrated engineering and radiation survey for nuclear facilities that have been shut down for decommissioning, and on documentation of the survey results. The recommendations of the Safety Guide can also be applied in the process of an integrated engineering and radiation survey for radioactive waste disposal facilities carried out, when they are prepared for closure, except for survey of barriers intended for long-term safety of radioactive waste disposal within the period upon closure of the radioactive waste disposal facility.
