Standardization

Technical Committee for standardization “Nuclear Engineering” (hereinafter to be referred to as - ТC322) is considered to be as voluntary association of the interested organizations. ТC 322 organizes and carries out activities for national, regional and international standardization in the field of use of atomic energy. At the present moment all activities of ТC 322 are being performed within an umbrella of six sub-committees.

Scientific and Engineering Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SEC NRS) is appointed to be the base institution of Subcommittee “Radiation Protection” (SC 1) in compliance with Order No. 6362 of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Russian Federation (dated of December 6, 2011). The secretariat functions are assigned to Nuclear and Radiation Safety Division of SEC NRS.

The scope of Subcommittee SC 1 “Radiation Protection” activities

SC 1 is actively involved in works that are being implemented by ТC322, in particular:

• considers drafts of national and interstate standards and other documents for standardization and submit comments (proposals) thereof ;
• participates in discussions of drafts standards in the course of ТC 322 meetings;
• makes contribution into the work of technical committees of international organizations for standardization ISO ТC 85 “Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Technologies and Radiological Protection” and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC 45 “Nuclear Instrumentation”;
• participates in meetings of working groups organized by international organizations for standardization ISO and IEC;
• annually prepares draft plans under the frames of SC1 activities.

In its activity, the SC 1 is governed by the legislation in force, the standards of the national system for standardization of the Russian Federation and by the “Regulation on Technical Committee 322”.

Membership in the Technical Committee is made voluntary and open to participation of other organizations.
